Does your family eat seafood on a regular basis? Maybe only once in a while?

If so, please check out this seafood chart.

This chart shows which seafood choices are the best for the marine ecosystem. The reasoning behind the "best choices" is the methods and techniques used to capture the marine organisms. Those species in the "Best Choices" are abundant, and caught in well managed or farmed in environmentally friendly ways. Those choices in the "Good Alternatives" are those marine organisms who are an okay option; however, their habitat or the method of capturing may be detrimental to their species. Those choices under "Avoid" should not be bought or consumed, in order for those species to remain in existence!

SEAFOOD WATCH CHART

"There are only so many fish in the sea. The choices we make today will determine the fate of tomorrow's ocean wildlife." - Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The Monterery Bay Aquarium recommends these three ocean-friendly steps:
1.) Purchase seafood from the green list.
2.) When you buy seafood, ask where your seafood comes from and whether it was farmed or wild-caught.
3.) Tell your friends about Seafood Watch. The more people that ask for ocean-friendly seafood, the better!
